Asia Argento is an Italian actress and film director who was born into an extended family that included both. She's pursued the two professions herself. In 1985 she debuted in Sergio Citti's Sogni e bisogni. She played the lead role in Cristina Comencini's Zoo (1988) as well as part of Michele Soavi's 1989 feature film The Church. The first film she directed was Prospettive. The film she created about her dad followed by Abel/Asia (1998) which was a movie that was awarded a prize during the Rome Film Festival in 1998. They were both directed between 1996 and 1998. In 1999 Asia made her feature-directing debut with Scarlet Diva (2000), where she played the leading actress and author for the script. The film was released in May 2000 in Italy as well as the rest of the world. It was awarded a trophy at the Williamsburg International Film Festival, Brooklyn. Anna Lou, her first child was born in the year 2001. She had directed several music videos. In 2002, she starred as Jean-Marc Barr's co-star The Red Siren (Olivier Megaton) as well as Vin Diesel was the star of Rob Cohen's action thriller The Action. Asia can also be the creator of numerous short stories, which have appeared in numerous prestigious magazines
